Shooting in the city is always a unique experience. From city to city, the atmosphere changes significantly. Having shot in Hong Kong, Toronto, Singapore, and a variety of other cities, it's clear that the way people on the street look at me, to the sounds of local traffic, all affect the mood and feel of each shoot that I do.
Recently, I got the chance to shoot with my long-time classmate and friend, Isabel, and we took to the streets of downtown Bellevue.
As late afternoon approached near the downtown transit center, sounds of foot traffic, and the comments of passersby surrounded us everywhere we walked. It never ceases to amaze me how rude some strangers can be, and how supportive and polite others can be as well. Yet, it's just all part of the experience of urban portrait photography.
A little while later, we escaped the traffic of early evening rush hour, and headed back to our old middle school to take a few photos before the daylight faded.
