Long ago, in an era before social distancing and rampant spending on take-out, it was safe to roam the city streets and photograph bustling, beautiful cityscapes. It seems like a bygone era in which going outside of the home and running into passersby on the street still felt like a safe and casual happening. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and its ongoing progress throughout America and the rest of the world, traveling even just 40 minutes north of the USA/Canada border feels like a thing of the past.
While reminiscing about my times spent exploring new cities with a film Leica in hand, I decided to share these images from a quick road trip up to Vancouver BC from last spring, as well as some images shot near my hometown of Seattle.
Images created with a Leica MP, Leica 50mm 1.4 Summilux-M ASPH and Zeiss 35mm 1.4 Distagon ZM on Kodak Portra 160 and FujiColor 200.
